Michele completed both a bachelor and master degree in Music Performance at the Chicago Musical College of Roosevelt University, where she received full scholarships. After college, she entered and won several competitions. The Farwell Award for musical excellence is just one of the honors she has received over the years, not just once, but twice after completing her schooling.

Ms. Lord was a great mentor to Michele, who encouraged her to pursue a career in music after she graduated from college.

Eventually, the two women would cross paths again and form a working relationship that would last 12 years until Ms. Lord’s untimely death in 2007. The culmination of their collaborations on numerous arrangements for the piano and flute would lead them to a performance at Carnegie Hall at the Weil recital hall that would feature 6 of their arrangements. Michele has performed as a soloist for a number of famous orchestras and directors. She went to Russia in 2001 after receiving an invitation to record with Saint Petersburg Camerata. Another pinnacle of Ms. McGovern’s career was her 15 year role as principal flute with the Lincolnwood Chamber Orchestra.
