Flutist Performer Chicago Land
A flutist performer Chicago Land music lovers will appreciate is Michele McGovern. She has had an illustrious career working with some highly regarded orchestras and performing with some of the world’s best musicians. In addition to her many performances, she is also creating her name for herself on YouTube as a flutist performer Chicago Land artist. She has award-winning videos already under her belt and a growing following.
Before she was a flutist performer Chicago Land residents would have found her attending school at the Chicago Musical College of Roosevelt University, where she received a full scholarship to earn both her bachelor and masters in Music Performance. Ms. McGovern has studies with some amazing musicians, such as Jean Berkenstock (former principal Lyric Opera Orchestra), Alexander Murray (former principal London Symphony), Donald Peck (former principal Chicago Symphony), Mary Stolper (principle Grant Park Symphony), and was also a piano student of Melody Lord. Soon after graduating, she began her career as a flutist performer Chicago Land competition participant, where she garnered several first place awards. It was also during this time that Michele was awarded the Farwell Award for musical excellence twice. This honor is bestowed by the Musicians Club of Women, who provided this award in an effort to encourage talented individuals to pursue their musical dreams.
Ms. McGovern was more than just a student of Melody Lord. She was also a flutist performer Chicago Land artist that worked with Ms. Lord for 12 years on a variety of arrangements, including a version of Carmen for flute and piano. They pair played all 6 of their arrangements of Carmen at New York City's Carnegie Hall in the Weil recital hall, which was a highlight of Michele’s career. After Melody’s untimely passing, Ms. McGovern embarked on a journey to create a video as a tribute to her mentor.
Before her video career started, Ms. McGovern was a flutist performer Chicago Land soloist for a number of orchestras, such as Mozart's D Major Concerto, Mozart's Andante, Vivaldi's Il Gardellino Concerto, Vivaldi's La Notte Concerto, Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 for two flutes and violin, Lukas Foss' "For Toru," Saint Petersburg Camerata in St. Petersburg, Russia. She also performed with The Nutcracker Ballet, Chicago Sinfonietta and was the Principle Flute for Lincolnwood Chamber Orchestra for over 15 years.
The flutist performer Chicago Land musician, Michele McGovern, is also an amazing writer and actress. Her video Moonlight which is based on an arrangement of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata (Mvt. #1) that Melody and Michele worked on together won several awards including Best Music Video.
